The Milkey Musketeers

Image
Today’s   topic enthusiastically explores the Three Milkey Musketeers, the very popular Camel Milk, Goat Milk and Coconut Milk range of Soaps. These bases are free from preservatives, Sls, Sles, Parabens and other harmful chemicals. They are as good as a moisturizer to the skin, deep cleaning with very gentle exfoliation and offering calming properties of their exclusive minerals and Vitamins. Often people with Psoriasis , Eczema and Irritable skin prefer to have Soaps customized in these bases, using selective herbs and very often requesting not to use any fragrances. Lets look at each of the Milkey Musketeer closely.   Sulfate free Camel Milk Soaps made in Camel Milk are rich in Vitamin B and C and are a natural source of alpha-hydroxy acids which is a remedy for several skin related issues right from clogging of pores or acne break out. It helps in softening the skin and keeping it supple. It helps to smooth fine lines and prevents wrinkles. People comp...

The Smile of Nature

Image
It is said that Nature always wears the color of the Spirit (Ralph Waldo Emmerson) And Colors ..... as we all know are the Smile of Nature (Leigh Hunt) Adding color to soap is the best part of Soap making for me, I love to try out different variants and hues of color especially if they are 100% natural! So presenting today's topic: using Natural Pigments to color your Soap  Soap looks very attractive in color, and often people buy soap only because it is aesthetically appealing and very pleasing to the eye. However many conscientious consumers are moving away from Synthetic dyes, not because they are harmful, in fact all synthetic dyes in soap are skin safe and used in making cosmetic, even then, people find going with nature more attractive. So lets explore the many benefits of the natural colorants (this I speak from experience because the natural colors you saw in my Smiling Platter are all natural colors I have successfully worked with over time): 1. They offer gentle and natu...

Organic or Not!!

Image
Often I am asked this question,  "Is your Soap Organic?" Often I see around myself, reputed established brands selling “Organic” soap but charging a heavy premium price for calling their soap organic. Many times I also see people referring quite confidently to their soaps as organic, and the pricing is very contradictory to the whole ideology that Organic defines … Today, lets once and for all settle on this debate “Organic Or Not!!!” Soap, for those of you who may not know is nothing but a Sodium salt of Oils, fats or fatty acids. Oils, fats or fatty acids are Saponified by Na-OH (Sodium Hydroxide) which is an Alkali to formulate a hard bar of soap. Three types of Processes produce Soaps that become part of the Market. 1.        Hot Process – typically used by most commercial, established, large scale brands 2.        Cold Process – Which involves interaction with Lye, can give 100 % Organic ou...

Honey Oats and Milk!

Image
Today's post is about one of my and also in general a very Popular combination in Soapcraft - Honey Oats and Milk! My very first experience with Honey Oats and Goatmilk was my Personal Project in March 2018, when the change of weather brought in additional dryness to my Son's skin. My first Oats-Honey&Milk bar was crafted for my Son, and what a true blue magician it was. I made my Son's favourite Sky Blue teddy bear which was taken away even before it could be wrapped or labeled or photographed to be used in the Shower .... twice a day.... diligently at that. The result made me confident of my craft and the magical properties of the ingredients. Thus in September, when an overseas client approached me with her order of her yearly stock of soaps, I made a strong recommendation for Oats - Honey and Milk. She loved the idea instantly and asked me to craft them in my two special variants, Oats Honey and Goatmilk, and the second variant was Oats Honey and Castile for her 8 ...

Crisis and Seeds of Opportunity

Image
The Great Albert Einstein said "In the Midst of Every Crisis lies an opportunity". Which brings us to the part B of the question, why am I here. So far I was quietly going about my craft, thoroughly enjoying the daily validation from happy customers, the repeat orders, the heartfelt gratitude when a skin care regime succeeded through my Soaps, especially when little children with their very special twinkling eyes conveyed their happiness in grins going from ear to ear.... Then, Crisis struck home. My husband has been tested Covid positive. Naturally I must put my business operations on hold, even though I am in the business of Soap which is the biggest Corona warrior, I can't put anyone's life to risk:-) Since I am not Soaping, I am not Sulking because I am writing :-) My Blog is an outcome of this very in the face crisis which otherwise leaves me totally drained out through the day, tending to a quarantining husband, managing the high levels of anxieties of a ques...

So like the colours in a rainbow that stick together despite their distinct unique hue, my Soap craft has many agendas which are distinctly diverse yet connected through the common cord that is Me. 1. Like a wave that creates a beautiful symphony sometimes going in high tide some times in low and other times standing still and tranquil, my blog will also witness  many such high tides and low tides because ..... 2. Personally I enjoy creative challenges, I love cooking up exotic unique sometimes exclusive recipes, and many times fusion recipes. Introduction and Welcome!!!

Hi, I am Surabhi, a soap crafter. I craft customized designer bathing luxuries that are free from harmful chemicals and preservatives. I use natural ingredients and certified organic additives. I am a Post Graduate in Special Education, certified Montessorian and a certified Skin Care Formulator. I have been a Special Educator & Teacher trainer till 2016, and had to leave my job to support my Son (who is on the Autism Spectrum) fulltime so he could comfortably navigate his journey into a mainstream Education System. From 2016 till 2018 I tried very hard to find an occupation that could merge well with my current occupation of Shadowing my son to school and taking him for all his therapies. It was in January 2018 that I found my calling. I discovered Soapcraft when I was looking for Magnesium Soaps as part of a recommendation from a therapist who recommended Camel Milk Soaps infused with Magnesium Salt to sooth my Son’s nerves & work on his anxiety. After my Son gave favorabl...
